Landesign was hired by JLC Construction, Inc. (www.JLCinc.net) to work closely with Vince Lattanzio from Carducci & Associates a Landscape Architectural Firm. Landesign was hired to perform the installation of the landscape construction for this beautiful luxury resort. The Carneros Inn, (www.thecarnerosinn.com) is located in Napa Valley nestled amongst 27 acres of seemingly endless rows of grapevines, unspoiled farmlands, and scenic orchards.

Due to the large scale and scope of work for this project it has been managed in four phases. Phase I was the existing resort and cottages. Phase II was the newly constructed home sites. Phase III was the resorts amenities (ie recreational areas). Phase IV was the Time Share Cottages.

Phase I – The challenge was dealing with the renovation of an existing luxury resort and cottages while the facility was in full operation. Another challenge has involved the well water, which has been resolved by treating the water for Boron.

Phase II – This phase incorporated the new landscape around the home sites, each of which used individual garden themes. The challenge here was locating over 300 different varieties of plant material. Some of the materials were large specimen trees such as 96" boxed Oaks and Palms. Large cranes were used to carefully install these trees.

Phase III – This phase focused on the new landscape surrounding the resort's amenities, including the restaurant, conference center, grocery store, post office, pool patio, garden pathways and bocce ball courts. The challenge here was working with a tight deadline to ensure the restaurant and conference center would be opened on schedule.

Phase IV – The final phase (the Time Share Cottages) was completed in 2007. The challenge in this phase was to be working on the site while the resort was in operation. As with all other phases, communication was extremely important to keep the progress in motion.
